Aliens take over BGHS stage

Bowling Green High School will present the student-written play “From One World to Another.”

Performances are Nov. 2, 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 5 at 2 p.m.

The running time is approximately one hour. Admission is free, and donations will be accepted at the door.

The play is about space aliens who capture four earthlings – two from Bowling Green and two from Burkina Faso. The aliens, wishing to conduct studies on humans, require the humans to tell stories from their cultures so they can select who is best fit for the studies. Therefore, the play centers around the telling of three stories from Burkina Faso and three stories based on songs written by Dolly Parton, and that serves to enrich the aliens’ emerging understanding of humanity.

This project is titled “Cultural Exchange Through High School Theatre” and is funded by grants from the BG Community Foundation and the U.S. Global Ties program, a division of the U.S. Department of State’s Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund. Students have been interacting with Burkinabé English teacher Dhia Sanogo throughout the play-writing process.

Dhia will travel to Bowling Green late this month and participate in post-performance talk-backs, visit with BG students, speak for classes at BGSU, and at a special program sponsored by the Wood County District Public Library on Sunday at 2 p.m.
