BGCS board meeting to include info of facilities plan

The Bowling Green City Schools superintendent will be answering another round of questions regarding the Facilities Master Plan Project and/or the constructing of a new high school during the regular board meeting to be held Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Performing Arts Center, 540 W. Poe Road.

The deadline to submit questions is Monday at 9 a.m.

BG Civil Service Commission meets

The Bowling Green Civil Service Commission will meet at 2 p.m. Monday in the council chambers, City Building, 305 N. Main St.

The purpose of the meeting is to review, modify, add and/or recommend changes to Civil Service Rules, take all actions necessary to establish eligibility and certified lists, establishing testing procedures and processes, establishing passing examination scores, accept requests to waive out of hiring processes, and/or certify or refuse to certify names of candidates deemed eligible for consideration for hire or promotion to classified positions. Action will also be taken, as necessary, to modify, add, accept, or abolish job descriptions, and to establish classified positions and/or schedule and/or establish the requirements for or types of hiring or promotional examinations.

BG finance committee hears quarterly update

The finance committee of Bowling Green City Council will hold a meeting on Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the council chamber located in the City Administrative Services Building, 305 N. Main St. Members will hear the quarterly update regarding the city’s finances.

Exchange Club talk focuses on Habitat for Humanity

Mark Ohashi, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Wood County, will be speaking at the Exchange Club meeting on Tuesday at noon at the BG Country Club, 923 Fairview Ave.

He will explain Habitat’s assistance to those families in Bowling Green in need of affordable housing and how the community can help.

The challenges for families to find affordable housing has come to the forefront of public attention, now, more than ever. Families are forced to remain in inadequate housing situation that are affordable, or face financial hardship in housing that is adequate but not affordable. Habitat offers a solution of both affordable and adequate housing through its homeownership program.

The public is welcome to attend the Exchange Club meetings. There is a $13 cost for lunch, no reservation is necessary.

Perrysburg leaf collection starts Monday

PERRYSBURG — The City of Perrysburg will begin its fall leaf collection on Monday. City crews will begin collection on the west side of the City and work their way east.

City crews will collect leaves several times until a final sweep will be done Nov. 27.

Leaves put out once crews have been by on the final sweep will not be picked up.

Wood County Museum to re-open

The Wood County Museum has announced that after being closed for much of 2023, will re-open on Monday for tours with normal business hours. On Thursday at 3:30 p.m. there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the grand re-opening.

Following the ribbon cutting, there will be an open house reception until 6 p.m. with cake and light refreshments. Holly A. Kirkendall, museum curator and author of the “Ohio Infirmary Buildings,” will offer an author “meet & greet” and book signings.

This will be a free event open to the public, in partnership with the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Perrysburg Chamber of Commerce, and North Baltimore Chamber of Commerce.

The museum is located at 13660 County Home Road.
