Deal leads Perrysburg golfers to state tournament

The Perrysburg girls golf team qualified for the Division I state tournament after shooting a 350 in the district tournament Tuesday at Stone Ridge Golf Course in Bowling Green.

Perrysburg senior Sydney Deal, who will golf next year at Florida Gulf Coast University, was medalist, shooting 35-34–69.

The Division I girls state tournament is at the Ohio State University Gray Course in Columbus on Friday and Saturday, October 13-14.

Perrysburg finished second in the team standings, 10 strokes behind Toledo St. Ursula (340). Toledo Notre Dame (370) was third, followed by Anthony Wayne (377), Lexington (400), Sylvania Southview (412), Ontario (417), Findlay (424), Ashland (436), and Norwalk (449).

The top two teams advanced to state. Other Perrysburg golfers were senior Ariyah Ellis (50-43–93), senior Olivia Eisaman (44-42–86), senior Paige Feldkamp (47-55–102), and junior Ella Calvin (53-52–105).

Bowling Green senior Lily Pollick also qualified for district, shooting 52-49–101, but will not advance to state.

At the D-I sectional on October 4 at Heatherdowns Golf Course in Toledo, Perrysburg also finished second to St. Ursula, 330-365.

Deal was medalist, shooting 35-37–72 to defeat second place St. Ursula junior Emma Myers (39-39–78). Other Perrysburg golfers were Ellis (49-45–94), Eisaman (44-48–92), Feldkamp (58-49–107), and senior Mia Moffit (61-53–114).

At the sectional, Notre Dame (378) was third, followed by AW (384), Southview (422), Clay (428), Springfield (431), Toledo Whitmer (432), Defiance (433), Fremont Ross (481), Sylvania Northview (515), and Maumee (574).

Pollick led BG by shooting 48-51–99. Other BG golfers were junior Sophie Fruth (53-58–111), senior Brynn Wilhelm (59-52–111), junior Deanna Burt (67-58–125) and junior Annie Urban (57-57–114).
