Highway patrol investigate fatal crash on I-75
The Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Tuesday at approximately 6:43 a.m. on southbound Interstate 75 at the Devils Hole Road overpass.
The preliminary investigation showed a Chevrolet Cruze, operated by David F. Collins, 42, Chesterfield, Michigan, drove off the right side of the roadway, behind the guardrail and struck the bridge support pillar for the Devils Hole Road overpass.
The impact caused the engine to separate from the vehicle, catching the grass on fire.
Collins succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Middleton Township Fire and EMS, Mid-County Ambulance District, B.G. Towing & Repair, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
This incident remains under investigation.
Kiwanis Club hears economic development update
Bowling Green Kiwanis Club will host Mayor Mike Aspacher and Kati Thompson, executive director of BG Economic Development, for discussions on “BG Economic Development: What’s New?”
The club will meet Thursday at the Slater Family Ice Arena Lounge, on the campus of Bowling Green State University. The public is welcomed to attend.
The meeting is set to commence at noon with lunch starting at 11:30 a.m. for a fee of $15.
Wayne food distribution is Thursday
WAYNE — The monthly food distribution for the Wayne area will be held Thursday from 9-10 a.m. at the Wayne Fire Hall, 200 N.Center St.
The food distribution is for those in the 43466 zip code.
City officials get training in zoning codes
Members of the City of Bowling Green City Council, Planning Commission, and Zoning Board of Appeals will attend a training session about the city’s updated zoning code on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. in the City Administrative Services Building, council chamber, 305 N. Main St.
While this is an open public meeting, there will be no public comments taken during this training.
