Tontogany honors its ‘Hometown Heroes’

TONTOGANY — The Village of Tontogany will honor six military veterans as a “Hometown Hero.”

Community members Dale Korn, Navy; Jack Crawford, Air Force; David Albert Sr. and Jack Hain, Marine Corps; and Kevin Wickman and Ralph Wires, Army, will be honored at a “Hometown Hero” banner dedication on Monday at Village Hall, 18545 Main St., at 6:15 p.m.

BG school board meets Tuesday

The Bowling Green Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Performing Arts Center, 540 W. Poe Road.

Perry Twp. Trustees open project bids

FOSTORIA — The Perry Township Trustees will hold a special meeting on Wednesday at the Perry Township Fire Station, 3995 Eagleville Road, Fostoria. at 5 p.m. to open sealed bids for the Turley Road paving project.

Exchange Club welcomes BGSU men’s basketball coach

The Exchange Club of Bowling Green welcomes Todd Simon, BGSU men’s basketball coach, to speak at their Tuesday meeting at the BG Country Club at noon.

Simon will enter his first season as the head coach of Bowling Green’s men’s basketball program in 2023-24, being hired to the post in March of 2023. Simon joins the Falcons after spending the last seven seasons at Southern Utah as the head coach of the Thunderbirds.

Coach Simon will give a preview of what fans can expect on the court this season.

A native of Fowler, Michigan, Simon earned his bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan with a double major in sport studies and management information systems in 2003. He earned his master’s degree from UNLV in sport education leadership in 2010.

He and his wife, Kati, have three sons, Rece, Raylan, Ryder and one daughter, Sophia.

The Jon Waters story that was published in Wednesday’s Sentinel-Tribune had an incorrect date for the Bowling Green State University Falcon Marching Band 100th celebration.

The celebration will be held Sept. 23.
