To the editor,
With the exception of a 10 plus year absence (1984 – 1994), we have been residents of BG since 1971 when we moved back to Ohio from Bethesda, MD.
Our three daughters (Tamra, Tracy and Kirsten) have benefitted enormously from their years as Bobcats. Their memories of the BG Schools are fresh and positive and with deep feelings of appreciation.
In short, we as a family have had the benefit of a “long view” of the BG Schools.
Apart from the Middle School, little has changed in a physical sense with our schools over all those many years. Fortunately, and happily, the quality of education has remained strong, a real testament to our outstanding teachers and administrators.
Our students, today and tomorrow, and their families as well as our teachers, are long overdue for a new high school. Our facilities stand today in sharp contrast to our neighboring schools: Otsego, Eastwood, Elmwood and indeed Perrysburg.
With love and appreciation for the past, we, as a community, can no longer afford to turn a “blind eye” to the obvious: a new high school is a must. We cannot remain mired in the past. The need for a new high school is well reasoned, well planned and well documented.
As a community in concert with our school district townships, let’s move FORWARD. Support the school levy on November 7!
