A Toledo man was arrested Monday morning for allegedly attempting to burglarize an apartment.

At 12:25 a.m., Bowling Green police received a 911 call from an apartment in the 500 block of East Merry Avenue. The caller reported a man wearing a black hoodie was looking in their back window and manipulating its outer screen.

When officers arrived, they went to the back of the building to look for the suspect and observed a subject walking through the parking lot away from the building, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

The man entered a parking lot on Thurstin Avenue and continued looking over his shoulder. He then began to move westbound, came to a fence and then began running eastbound. He entered the parking lot of MacDonald Hall on the BGSU campus. He attempted to take off his jacket, which slowed him down and allowed the officer in pursuit to catch up, according to the report.

He failed to comply with orders to get on his stomach and then gave officers a fake name, fake date of birth and fake Social Security number.

A BGSU officer arrived and identified the man as Christopher Gray, due to having contact with him before, according to the report.

The people who called 911 were taken to the scene and said they were 90% sure Gray was the person they saw outside the window.

Upon searching Gray, officers found a spandex ski mask in the hood of his hoodie.

His vehicle was found in the parking lot with a perfect view of the victim’s window.

Gray, 30, was arrested for attempted burglary and obstructing official business.

He was taken to jail, where he remains on a $25,000 bond.
