Falcons’ Cusimano named Offensive Player of Week

Bowling Green State University men’s soccer standout Kyle Cusimano has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Cusimano becomes the first MVC weekly award winner in program history.

Cusimano, a native of Bay Village, Ohio (Bay), scored the first goal of the match in both of BGSU’s games during the nomination period, a 2-2 draw at Duquesne on Thursday and a 2-1 win over Michigan on Monday. Both goals were headers off of Alberto Anaya set pieces.

The senior headed home an Anaya corner kick to begin the DU contest on a header that hit the underside of the crossbar and landed behind the goal line, then opened the scoring vs. UM on a gorgeous diving header after a free kick from just outside the box.

Cusimano now has seven career goals, but the goal vs. the Wolverines was the first goal he has scored at BGSU’s Cochrane Stadium.

Cusimano is tied for the team lead in goals (two) and points (four) on the young season.
