A Bowling Green man has been arrested for driving while under the influence.

At 6:36 a.m. Thursday, Bowling Green police observed a vehicle northbound at a high rate of speed on North Main Street near Merry Avenue. The vehicle was clocked at 60 mph in a 35-mph zone.

The vehicle was found in a fast-food drive-thru in the 1000 block of North Main Street. As the officer got behind the vehicle, the driver backed into the cruiser twice, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

The officer honked his airhorn twice to get the vehicle to stop, according to the report.

The vehicle, a maroon Ford F150, then started moving slowly towards the end of the parking lot, where it finally came to rest.

The driver, identified as Trevor Dienst, 31, exited the truck and was placed into investigative custody.

Dienst told the officer he was unaware he had backed into the cruiser.

During the interaction with officers, Dienst had erratic and shifting behaviors and mood swings, according to the report.

He changed his story multiple times regarding what drugs he was taking and then failed multiple field sobriety tests, according to the report.

When asked what time it was, he responded 5 p.m. when it was actually 7 a.m.

While in the backseat of the cruiser, he intentionally slammed his head forward into the partition, causing a laceration of his forehead to bleed, according to the report.

An ambulance was requested and transported him to the hospital.

He refused a urine test and over time began shouting and attempting to leave the hospital. He refused to cooperate, was very aggressive and was placed in cuffs and escorted to a cruiser.

Dienst was arrested for OVI/refusal, speed and improper backing. He was taken to jail.

He also has been charged with receiving stolen property and obstructing official business.

Bond has been set at $27,000.
