City offices closed for Labor Day

The offices of the City of Bowling Green will be closed on Monday in observance of Labor Day.

The schedule for refuse/recycling collection is as follows: Regular Monday collection will be collected Tuesday. Regular Tuesday collection will be collected Wednesday. Regular Wednesday collection will be collected Thursday. Regular Thursday collection will be collected Friday.

Any questions regarding the above schedule may be directed to the Public Works Department at 419-354-6227.

Post offices also will be closed on Monday and there will be no mail delivery.

Splash Pad opens this weekend

The City of Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department will be opening the Splash Pad connected to the pool this weekend, Saturday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. This will be free of charge to the community on a first come, first serve basis. The rest of the pool complex is closed for the season.

Registration is open for BG brush collection

Registration fo brush collection services in Bowling Green has started.

Brush is defined by the city as anything having a bark covering, such as: burning bushes/clippings, shrub clippings, shrubs, tree limbs, twigs, etc.

Brush collections for locations served by city refuse collection will occur the third week of the month for scheduled locations only.

You must register online or call to schedule a collection by the second Monday.

Register by calling 419-354-6227 before Sept. 11.

Any questions regarding the brush collection should be directed to the Public Works Department.

Bradner legion serves baked steak

BRADNER — On Sunday, the Bradner American Legion’s “famous baked steak” dinner will be served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. or until sold out.

The menu is baked steak, green beans, mashed potatoes with or w/out gravy, roll, drink and dessert. The cost is $10 per meal.

The legion is located at 209 W. Crocker St.

Wood County Planning Commission meets

The Wood County Planning Commission will meet Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the county office building.

The agenda include a rezoning requests in Middleton Township.

Custar BPA moves meeting date

CUSTAR — The Village of Custar’s Board of Public Affairs will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. this month, instead of their regular monthly meeting on the second Wednesday.

Council will still meet at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 as normal.

Both meetings are held at the Custar Legion Hall, located at 9155 Custar Road.

BG Civil Service Commission meets

The Bowling Green Civil Service Commission will meet at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in council chambers within the City Building, 305 N. Main St.

The purpose of the meeting is to review, modify, add and/or recommend changes to Civil Service Rules, take all actions necessary to establish eligibility and certified lists, establishing testing procedures and processes, establishing passing examination scores, accept requests to waive out of hiring processes, and/or certify or refuse to certify names of candidates deemed eligible for consideration for hire or promotion to classified positions.

Action will also be taken, as necessary, to modify, add, accept, or abolish job descriptions, and to establish classified positions and/or schedule and/or establish the requirements for or types of hiring or promotional examinations.
