Jackets rout Little Giants, 49-20, to stay unbeaten

FREMONT — Perrysburg rolled up a 49-0 halftime lead over host Fremont Ross Friday, and the Yellow Jackets went on to a 49-20 non-league win to stay unbeaten at 3-0. The Little Giants fall to 1-2.

Perrysburg quarterback Josh Takats completed 8-of-17 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns, and Beckett Walters threw a five-yard pass completion.

Nick Oros led Perrysburg’s rushing attack with 32 yards on nine carries and two TDs, and Joseph Seney had nine yards on two carries and one TD.

Gavin Fenneken led the receiving corps with four catches for 112 yards and one TD, Mefferd caught a 56-yard TD pass, Iain Hall had a 42-yard reception, Dominick Woods had a catch for nine yards, J.D. Zeeb had a catch for five yards, and Zach Schroeder had one catch covering two yards.

Abram Hire got the scoring going as he returned a muffed punt for 32 yards, putting the Yellow Jackets up, 6-0. Oros scored on a two-yard run to give Perrysburg a 14-0 first quarter lead.

In the second quarter, the Jackets posted five TDs. Seney scored on a one-yard run, Oros scored on a one-yard run, Fenneken caught a 41-yard TD pass from Takats, Dylan Blubaugh scored on a 37-yard interception return and Mefferd added the final score on his TD reception.

Ross got on the board with a four-yard TD run by Karson Kayden in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Elijah Simms caught a 66-yard TD pass from Kayden and Kayden threw a 27-yard TD pass to Tykell Patterson for the Little Giants.

Kayden completed 10-of-22 passes for 198 yards and he ran for 38 yards on 10 carries. Simms had three catches for 101 yards, Patterson had three catches for 62 yards, and Jaxson Mackey had a catch for 29 yards.
