Cygnet man pleads guilty to rape

A Cygnet man has pleaded guilty to two counts of rape.

Mitchell Kubacki Jr., 20, formerly of Findlay, appeared Monday in the courtroom of Wood County Common Pleas Judge Molly Mack.

A bill of information for two counts of rape was filed in May, after the case, on approval of all parties, was transferred to common pleas court from juvenile court.

Kubacki entered pleas of guilty to the two charges, which are both first-degree felonies.

Wood County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Pamela Gross said in August 2014, Kubacki several times forced himself on two separate victims who were 9 years old and 5 years old at the time.

Mack said each charge carries a mandatory prison sentence of three to 11 years, and she could impose consecutive sentences for a maximum of 22 years.

Kubacki also must register as a Tier III sex offender, which will require him to register every 90 days for life.

A bill of information serves the same function as an indictment issued by a grand jury.

Sentencing was scheduled for Oct. 23.
