Port Clinton runs past Bulldogs, 52-21

PORT CLINTON — In a shootout off the shores of Lake Erie, Rossford (1-1) fell to Port Clinton (2-0), 52-21, in non-league football Friday.

The Redskins were up 38-21 at halftime and continued to pull away in the second half, outgaining the Bulldogs 329-293 in total yards.

For Rossford, quarterback Jackson Schultz threw 68- and 54-yard touchdown passes to Xavier Kellermeier and Ronald Hawkins IV scored on a four-yard run.

Schultz completed 18-of-29 passes for 267 yards but threw two interceptions. Kellermeier caught four passes for 134 yards and Kaden Kirkman caught nine passes for 81 yards. Hawkins ran for 22 yards on eight carries and caught two passes for nine yards.

But the Redskins had 268 rushing yards to Rossford’s 26, and PC was 4-for-8 on third down while Rossford was 2-for-12. Each team had 15 first downs.

For PC, Dagan Meyers scored on a two-yard run and 67-yard run, Gabe Koskela scored on a 34-yard run and five-yard run, Briar Roher had a 50-yard punt return for a TD and also caught an 11-yard TD pass from Koskela, and Joseph Steele blocked a punt and returned the football for a TD.

On defense, Nick Taddonio had a fumble recovery for the Bulldogs.
