Grandparents Raising Grandchildren topic of Exchange Club

0

Suzanne Eames and Sarah Nidiffer will be speaking at the Exchange Club meeting on Tuesday at noon at the BG Country Club, 923 Fairview Ave. Both work for Wood County Educational Service Center in the Family and Community Partnership department. Their topic is a club-sponsored program, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group.

Nidiffer, family and community partnership liaison, started facilitating Grandparents Raising Grandchildren at Lake Local Schools two years ago.

Within a few months of the first meeting at Lake, the meetings expanded to Bowling Green City Schools and now has grown to have meetings at Rossford Exempted Village Schools. The program expanded this past school year to include kinship providers as well as grandparents who are raising children not their own and was also able to hire additional staff, including Eames.

Eames has had over 23 years in education ranging from teaching Head Start, college admissions, and teaching inner city middle school. She recently became a kinship caregiver herself, which allows her to relate even more to the population she serves.

The public is welcome to attend the Exchange Club meetings. There is a $13 cost for lunch, no reservation is necessary. For any questions, contact Jenny Swope, 419-806-4202.
