PERRYSBURG — Wednesday at Woodlands continues at noon with the Ellie Martin Duo. The lunchtime concerts take place in the Woodlands Park shelter area, 429 E. Boundary St. Bring a chair or a packed lunch and sit at one of the many picnic tables in and around the shelter area in both the sun and shade.

As individual artists, Martin and Chris Buzzelli bring a wealth of experience to their concert collaboration.

Martin is a jazz vocalist, singer-songwriter, and Ph.D. holder in jazz studies, whose music resonates with a profound depth of emotion and fearless spirit of improvisation.

Accompanying Martin is guitarist Buzzelli. During his tenure at Bowling Green State University, as the professor of guitar and jazz studies, (1984-2015) he served as a beacon of knowledge and inspiration. His role extended beyond the classroom as he directed the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, fostering the growth of young voices into skilled jazz performers.

What sets the duo apart is the way Martin’s evocative voice melds with Buzzelli’s intricate guitar melodies. With Martin’s diverse repertoire and Buzzelli’s proficiency in interpreting different musical styles, their performances are a testament to their versatility and musical understanding.

This concert series is made possible with the support of the City of Perrysburg and the Norma (Swaisgood) Stark Memory Garden and Labyrinth Foundation.
