Conlin, Cravens talk BGSU fundraising to Exchange Club

The Exchange Club of Bowling Green will welcome Pam Conlin, vice president for university advancement and president and CEO of Bowling Green State University Foundation Inc., and Jordan Cravens, senior director of development at Tuesday’s meeting at noon at the BG Country Club, 923 Fairview Ave.

Conlin and Cravens will be speaking on fundraising at BGSU.

Conlin has served as an advancement professional in higher education for 23 years, previously at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She arrived at BGSU in 2018 and invigorated the momentum of the Changing Lives for the World Campaign. This campaign was successfully completed in December 2020, exceeding the campaign goal by 27%. This effort made it the largest comprehensive fundraising endeavor in BGSU history.

Jordan Cravens ’09, ’13 is a senior director of development at BGSU. She provides fundraising leadership to the colleges of Education and Human Development, Health and Human Services, Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering, and the Division of Student Affairs. She began her career in annual giving at BGSU with increasingly progressive roles in the organization. Prior to her work in advancement, she served on the BGSU volleyball coaching staff. She is a two-time alumna of BGSU with degrees in journalism and a Master of Education, specializing in sport administration.

Martin, Buzzelli perform in Perrysburg

PERRYSBURG — Wednesday at Woodlands continues at noon with the Ellie Martin Duo. The lunchtime concerts take place in the Woodlands Park shelter area, 429 E. Boundary St. Bring a chair or a packed lunch.

As individual artists, Martin and Chris Buzzelli bring a wealth of experience to their concert collaboration.

Martin is a jazz vocalist, singer-songwriter, and Ph.D. holder in jazz studies, whose music resonates with a profound depth of emotion and fearless spirit of improvisation.

Accompanying Martin is guitarist Buzzelli. During his tenure at Bowling Green State University, as the professor of guitar and jazz studies, (1984-2015) he served as a beacon of knowledge and inspiration. His role extended beyond the classroom as he directed the Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

Kiwanis Club visits new city building

The Bowling Green Kiwanis Club will meet Thursday at noon at the Bowling Green Council chambers, 305 N. Main St., for a tour and lunch.

Mayor Mike Aspacher and Assistant City Administrator Joe Fawcett will talk about the new city building.

Shop at church rummage sale

A rummage sale will be held Friday and Aug. 26 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 126 S. Church St.

There will be housewares, glassware, small kitchen appliances, tools, toys, linens, sporting equipment, books and some small furniture. There will not be any clothes.

Build and Learn About STEAM with library’s Lego Cup Challenge

Builders, the Wood County District Public Library has the perfect challenge for you. Join WCDPL for the Lego Cup Challenge on Saturdays: Aug. 26, Sept. 9 and 23, Oct. 7 and 21, Nov. 4 and 25 and Dec. 9 and 30 for construction time and learning about STEAM.

Drop by the Children’s Place at the library, 251 N. Main St., any time between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to take part in the challenge. Participants will be given a cup of Legos and an item or structure to build using as many of the Legos as possible. After building, creations will be put on display for all to see.
