‘Ten Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s’ talk in BG

The Alzheimer’s Association Northwest Ohio Chapter is offering a variety of programs throughout the month of July covering healthy living, early warning signs and tips for approaching difficult conversations about dementia.

Ten Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s will be held Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. at the Wood County Senior Center, 140 S. Grove St.

The program is free.

Pre-registration is required. To register, call the Alzheimer’s Association’s 24/7 Helpline at 800.272.3900. Instructions for joining webinars will be emailed following registration.

“Join us for one of our July programs to learn about Alzheimer’s prevention and delay, early warning signs of dementia, and tips for approaching difficult conversations about the disease,” said Pam Myers, program director of the Alzheimer’s Association Northwest Ohio and Central Ohio Chapters. “These free programs will offer information, understanding and support for Northwest Ohio families.”

The 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s program will teach participants how to recognize common signs of the disease, how to approach someone about memory concerns, the importance of early detection and benefits of a diagnosis, and possible tests and assessments for the diagnostic process.

There are 220,000 Ohioans age 65 and older living with Alzheimer’s disease, according to the Alzheimer’s Association “2023 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and Figures.” That number is expected to increase to 250,000 by 2025.
