Perrysburg, Maumee to host Independence Day fireworks on July 3

PERRYSBURG — The City of Perrysburg and the City of Maumee will be hosting the traditional Independence Day fireworks on Monday, July 3 (rain date is July 4). Fireworks will begin at dusk and will last approximately 20-25 minutes.

American Fireworks Company will be setting off this year’s display, and for the first time, they will be choreographed to music, presented by Cumulus Media. The music will be played on four local radio stations: 94.5 WXKR, 93.5 WRQN, Q105 Toledo, and K100. Cumulus will broadcast live from various locations in Perrysburg and Maumee so those watching can also hear the music. Everyone watching is encouraged to tune in either on the radio or on one of the radio station apps.

Due to safety reasons, this year’s fireworks will be set off in the green space at Orleans Park instead of on the Maumee-Perrysburg bridge. This change will allow American Fireworks to add more fireworks shells to the display at no additional cost.

Parking will not be permitted at Orleans Park. Pedestrians will be allowed to find a seat on the Maumee-Perrysburg Bridge; however, pedestrians will need to enter and exit the bridge from the Maumee side.

Details and Traffic Pattern for July 3

The Maumee-Perrysburg Bridge and Maumee-Western Reserve Road will be closed to vehicle traffic at 7:30 p.m. The bridge will re-open after the fireworks display is completed and pedestrians clear. Motorists should plan on using alternate river crossings on I-475 and I-75.

The northbound lane of Fort Meigs Road will be closed to all traffic except emergency vehicles between Eckel Junction Road and West Indiana Avenue. The closure will begin at 9 p.m. and will continue until sufficient traffic has left the area. Southbound traffic on Fort Meigs Road will be maintained throughout the event.
