Lourdes’ Jagodzinski, Jackson honored by WHAC

Lourdes University’s Joel Suraganan (Pickerington, Ont./Dunbarton) garnered First Team All Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference honors and Wyatt Smith (Wynford) was a Second Team All-WHAC selection as the league announced its annual postseason awards.

In addition, Harrison Jackson (Lake) was named to the WHAC Champions of Character Team while head coach Josh Bradford was selected as the league’s Champions of Character Coach. Rossford’s Ryan Jagodzinski and Jackson were also selected to the WHAC All-Academic Team.

Suraganan led Lourdes with a .395 batting average, totaling 64 hits, while scoring 42 runs on the season. The junior shortstop had four home runs, nine doubles, and five triples while also registering 38 runs batted in. He also stole 12 bases. Suraganan posted a .586 slugging percentage and drew 19 walks, helping him register a .457 on base percentage.

Smith recorded a 5-2 record on the mound with a 4.89 earned run averaged. The senior right-hander pitched a team-high 57.0 innings, striking out 50 hitters while opponents batted just .266 against him.

Jackson was named to the WHAC Champions of Character Team for displaying the five core values of NAIA: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership while Bradford was selected from all of the league’s head coaches.

The WHAC All-Academic Team recognizes juniors and above in academic standing with a 3.25 cumulative grade point average or higher and have been at their institutions for at least one full year.
