BG’s preschool reaches 5-star rating

Bowling Green City Schools’ preschool staff has earned a 5-Star Pre-School rating during the Ohio Department of Education’s Step Up to Quality Review.

Step Up To Quality is a five-star quality rating and improvement system administered by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. SUTQ recognizes and promotes learning and development programs that meet quality program standards that exceed licensing health and safety regulations. The program standards are based on national research identifying standards which lead to improved outcomes for children.

“This is a testament to the hard work of our pupil service department led by Allie Reucher and preschool staff,” said Superintendent Francis Scruci in an email. “This is a rigorous evaluation and only the finest preschools get recognized as a 5-Star. We are certainly Bobcat Proud to have this staff working with our preschool students.”

To qualify as a 5-star program, administrators and teachers must hold high education qualifications, demonstrate the value of ongoing professional development, use child assessment results to plan activities, have an active and organized parent volunteer group, have low teacher/child ratios, and work collaboratively with families to share assessment results, create goals for children and develop a plan to support children as they transition to a new classroom.
