Cincinnati man arrested for hitting woman in BG

A Cincinnati man has been arrested for assault after he allegedly struck a woman and walked away as she lay on the ground.

A Bowling Green police officer was patrolling the area of East Court and North Summit streets Sunday around 2:20 a.m. when a female was observed lying in the roadway in the 200 block of North Summit.

The female was crying and said she had been struck by a man who had left her, and was walking northbound on North Summit, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

Officers found the man meeting the description given to them by the woman and identified him as Christian Sims, 21.

Sims told the officer he did not want to talk about the incident and was being wrongfully detained, according to the report.

The female told police she and Sims had been arguing throughout the night and she was following him so they could talk. She said Sims punched her in the face, giving her a fat lip and causing her to fall to the ground.

She refused medical assistance.

According to the report, the head of security at the Wood County Courthouse downloaded security video that showed Sims striking the woman in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. Sims then walked away.

Sims was arrested for assault and was taken to jail.

He posted bond on Monday.
