Brianna Richard named MAC Field Athlete of the Week

MAC Field Athlete of the Week: Brianna Richard, Senior, Bowling Green

The Mid-American Conference has announced two student-athletes as its Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week, with Bowling Green’s Brianna Richard earning MAC Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career. The senior had set a personal record and placed second in the triple jump at the Jesse Owens Classic, part of a sensational weekend for the Falcons.

Brianna Richard recorded a triple jump PR of 42-2.75 (12.87m), finishing second at the Jesse Owens Classic. This is the best mark in the MAC this season and ranks 40th in the NCAA. Additionally, it is third in the Great Lakes Region and 21st on the NCAA East Qualifying list. It was the fifth-best mark in program history, with only one other athlete recording better marks. She now holds four of the top nine outdoor triple jump marks in BGSU history.

This is the fifth time in as many chances the Falcons have had a student-athlete earn MAC Field Athlete of the Week during the outdoor season. The previous four have all been earned by Zaresha Neal. This is the first weekly conference honor of Richard’s career, adding to an impressive list of accolades that includes a pair of MAC Championships and first team All-MAC selections. The Falcons have had a weekly award winner on eight occasions during the 2023 track and field campaign.
