Eastwood’s Smith to play softball at Lourdes

Softball coach Caitlin Blanchard has announced that Jessyca Smith has signed a letter of intent to play softball at Lourdes University beginning in the fall.

A native of Pemberville, Smith has been a four-year letterwinner at Eastwood.

“Jessyca is a speedy lefty hitter and slapper,” Blanchard said. “She is a dynamic player at the plate and has several different offensive tools that can create chaos for any defense that she faces.

“Jessyca plays for a good summer ball team and has experience playing high level softball. She’ll add to our team on the field and off the field because she is also a great student in the classroom. It’s been a joy to recruit her, and I can’t wait to see her flourish in our campus environment.”

Smith was a First Team All-Northern Buckeye Conference selection for the Eagles last season. She also was named her team’s Most Improved Player.

Upon arriving at Lourdes, Smith is looking to study physical therapy.
