BGCS board hears update of superintendent search

The three finalists for Bowling Green City School superintendent will tour the school buildings after a public meet-and-greet.

Board of education President Ryan Myers gave an update on the search at Tuesday’s meeting.

“I did not know what the candidate pool would look like for our district once the job posting went out,” he said.

From the qualified list of strong candidates, seven were chosen for the first round of interviews after being selected based on the feedback from staff, community focus groups and the board.

“After interviewing all seven candidates, we were certainly not disappointed,” Myers said.

The three finalists are Kim Brueck, director of Human Resources and Student Services for Green Local Schools; Ted Haselman, superintendent at Pike-Delta-York Local Schools; and Bruce Otley, operations director at Liberty-Benton Local Schools.

They will meet with the community on Wednesday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building in City Park.

On Thursday, each candidate will meet with Central Administration staff and take building tours. Every member of the staff as well as community leaders will have the opportunity to ask questions of each candidate, Myers said.

There will be additional interviews Thursday.

“This process will allow all stakeholders to provide feedback for this very important decision,” he said.
