Weston man indicted for burglary

A Weston man is in jail after being indicted for burglary.

A Wood County grand jury on Wednesday indicted Daniel J. Slater, 57, for burglary, a second-degree felony, and violating a protection order, a third-degree felony.

On Feb. 27, Wood County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Center Street in Weston for a report of a burglary. The homeowner reported a stereo system had been taken while several belonging had been destroyed.

Slater had allegedly been leaving voicemails, including threats, on the woman’s cellphone, in violation of a protection order that was served in August 2021.

Slater’s cell phone was found in the pile of destroyed belongings.

He was arrested Thursday and bond was set at $5,000.

The grand jury also indicted:

Karzan D. Tayib, 31, Ypsilanti, Michigan, for trafficking in marijuana and possession of marijuana, both third-degree felonies. On July 28, he allegedly was found in possession of and had prepared for distribution more than 1,000 grams of marijuana. He will have to forfeit $8,750 which allegedly is contraband.

Amy Struffolino, 19, Toledo, for trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present, a fourth-degree felony. On March 2, she allegedly opened the door and entered a home on Starbright Boulevard in Perrysburg without permission. She allegedly continued into the home and engaged in an argument with the individuals inside.

Co-defendants Darius Devon Walker, 27, Van Buren Township, Michigan, and Rhonda Derrica McGaughy, 23, Ypsilanti, Michigan, for two counts of counterfeiting, both fourth-degree felonies. On March 27, they allegedly committed fraud in two instances by using currency they knew was counterfeit.
