LIMA — A national retailer plans to open its new store on Lima’s east side later this month.

Gabe’s will celebrate the grand opening of its new location at 2100 Harding Highway, Lima, on Saturday, April 22, according to gabesstores.com/lima.

Gabe’s describes itself as a “discount retailer and one-stop-shop for everything your family needs and wants,” according to its website.

The Lima store will offer stylish clothing for up to 70% off, home decor, home furniture and an expanded pantry department with top food brands, according to the website.

The departments at the Lima store include women’s, men’s, kids, home and essentials. Gabe’s stores also offer beauty items, luggage, pet supplies, electronics, toys and other accessories.

The store also has several jobs listed in Lima on its website, with jobs starting at $10 per hour for backroom associates and clerks.

The 60,000-square foot anchor retail space at Eastgate Plaza has been vacant since Chief Supermarket closed its doors there in January 2020.

Gabe’s previously announced its plans to open a store on Lima’s east side back in May 2022, but plans were delayed.

Morgantown, West Virginia-based Gabe’s operates 127 stores in 15 states, including a store in Findlay that opened in July 2014.
