Lake bounces back to beat Liberty Center, 10-8

MILLBURY — After losing to Otsego, 4-1, Friday in a Northern Buckeye Conference game, Lake softball got back on track, scoring a combined eight runs in the fifth and sixth inning to defeat visiting Liberty Center, 10-8, in non-league action Saturday.

The Flyers, who were outhit 11-10, scored four runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings after trailing 6-2 entering the bottom of the fifth. Lake improves to 10-2, while Liberty Center falls to 8-2.

Jessie Materni led Lake at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBIs, Sarah Patrick was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Diem Isbell had a double and RBI, and Kali Bedford had a base hit and three RBIs.

Alivia King and Kylee Pietrzak also had base hits for the Flyers, which also took advantage of eight walks and five Liberty Center errors.

Ellie Rymers was hit by a pitch and reached on a walk, scoring three runs for Lake. Bedford and King had sacrifice flies, and Rymers and King had stolen bases.

Patrick started in the circle for Lake, striking out three, walking six, and allowing eight hits and four earned runs through 4.2 innings.

Bedford closed, striking out three, walking two, and allowing three hits and no earned runs through 2.1 innings in getting the win.
