Robin Stanton Gerrow, president of the Bowling Green Arts Council, will describe new things the group is doing to work with local artists as guest speaker at the April 18 meeting of the Bowling Green Exchange Club.

The council works with area organizations to co-sponsor events that enrich the community, provide inspiration, enjoyment and learning opportunities and showcase the abilities of many talented area artists. The council is comprised of volunteers who are involved and interested in the arts.

Gerrow is serving her first year as president of the BGAC. Among upcoming activities is an Art Walk scheduled downtown on May 13.

Exchange Club meetings take place at noon on Tuesdays in the Bowling Green Country Club. Members of the public are invited to attend and enjoy a buffet lunch as well as the guest presentation. No reservations are necessary.

Gerrow, who is originally from West Virginia, has spent most of her life in Texas. With an undergraduate degree from Marshall University and a master’s degree from Syracuse University, she has been a communications professional for nearly 40 years, primarily in the non-profit, health care and higher education sectors.

She is a founding partner of Gerrow Communications, located in Bowling Green. Previously she was associate vice president of university communications at the University of Texas at El Paso. Prior to that, served as chief of communications at Bowling Green State University.
