Rape charge against Weston man is dismissed

A charge of rape against a Weston man has been dismissed.

Wood County Common Pleas Judge Molly Mack on Friday granted the state’s motion to dismiss without prejudice charges against Sid Serrato, 31.

To dismiss a case without prejudice is a temporary dismissal and allows the state to refile the charges.

Serrato had been indicted in October for rape, a first-degree felony.

On May 4, he allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with someone whose ability to resist or consent was substantially impaired because of a mental or physical condition or because of advanced age.

Serrato’s trial was scheduled to start Wednesday.
