A Bowling Green woman was cited for assault after allegedly starting an altercation at a downtown bar.
On Friday at 9:45 p.m., Bowling Green police took a report of an assault that occurred at a bar. The victim and witness came to Bowling Green Police Division to make the report.
Both said the assault occurred inside the bar and the victim knew the female who had assaulted her.
That person was identified as Marisa Lyn Garner, 20.
The women told police as they walked into the front patio area of the bar, Garner grabbed the victim and threw her to the ground before jumping on top of her, striking her and causing her head to hit the ground several times.
Garner also allegedly struck the woman who pulled her off the woman on the ground.
After the altercation ended, all three walked back into the bar.
A review of downtown video camera footage corroborated the story.
Garner was contacted and cited for assault.
