YPSILANTI, Mich. – Bowling Green State University baseball concluded the weekend series with Eastern Michigan falling 19-4 on Sunday.

The Falcons saw a late spark, scoring four runs in the final two innings, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the offensive firepower of the Eagles that totaled 19 runs, fueled by eight home runs. Zack Horky and Robbie Peteson both tallied their first career RBI at the collegiate level for the Falcons.

Two home runs in the bottom of the first inning put Eastern Michigan up 3-0.

Another pair of home runs in the third pushed the tally to 6-0 EMU before an RBI single increased it to 7-0.

In the bottom of the fifth, Eastern Michigan added four home runs along with an RBI double to push the score to 15-0.

The Falcons were able to get on the board in the sixth inning. Kyle Gurney and Adam Furnas led the inning with back-to-back singles to put runners at the corners, setting up a sacrifice fly by Nathan Rose to score Gurney.

After a double by Jack Krause put runners on second and third, Zack Horky singled through the left side to score another run for the Falcons to make it 15-2 and prompt an EMU pitching change.

The push continued for the Falcons in the inning with a bases loaded sacrifice fly by Ryan Johnston to score Krause and make it 15-3.

A quartet of RBI base hits in the bottom of the sixth for EMU extended their lead to 19-3.

In the bottom half of the inning, Robbie Peterson logged a pinch-hit RBI single to make it the 19-4 final.

The Falcons will return home next weekend at Steller Field, playing the University of Toledo. The Falcons and Rockets will play a four-game weekend series before playing a fifth game, marked as non-conference, at Fifth Third Field in Toledo.
