Wilma Saunders Kania, 94, of Tiffin and formerly of Custar, Ohio passed away Monday evening, February 3,
2020 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay, Ohio.
She was born on January 22, 1926 in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Earl and Chloie (Williams) Cox. Wilma
married Paul Saunders on September 22, 1944 and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1965. On
December 11, 1970 she married John Kania and he also preceded her in death on July 16, 2009.
She is survived by two sons, Paul (Sandra) Saunders, Deshler, Ohio; Dan (Barbara) Saunders, Tiffin; step
children, Rosanne (Thomas) Tussing, Jenera, Ohio; Steven (Deborah) Kania, Findlay; Thomas (Sheri) Kania,
Liberty Center, Ohio; step daughter-in-laws, Patricia Kania and Lois Kania, both of Bowling Green, Ohio;
16 Grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Ron Saunders; two step sons, David Kania and Dennis Kania; two
sisters, Juanita and Pauline and a grandson, Kyle Kania.
Wilma worked at the former Custar State Bank and also for the Huntington Bank in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Wilma loved to travel and enjoyed many years living in Florida. She was an avid golfer and quite
accomplished in women’s events. While a member of the Bowling Green Country Club and Shady Acres in
McComb, Ohio she won several Club Championships. While living in Florida she recorded a “Hole in One”.
She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar, Ohio and St. John Fisher Catholic Church, West
Palm Beach, Florida. While in Florida she also belonged to The Marine Auxiliary; GLV Ladies Club and GLV
Italian-American Club.
A funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar with Fr. Frank Murd
officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. on Thursday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler.
The family suggests memorials to Friedman Village of St. Francis Activities; St. Louis School or Bridge
Hospice.
