Robert E. Whitney “Bob”

Robert E. Whitney “Bob”, 101, of Weston, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019.
He was born on December 5, 1918 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Herbert and Margaret (Johnson) Whitney. He
married Cora (Weiker) Whitney on January 29, 1941 in Weston and they were married for 74 years before
Cora passed away on February 25, 2015.
Bob is survived by his daughters: Phyllis (Bob) Morelan of Waterville, Joanne (John) McKenzie of Weston,
Carol McKenzie of Weston and Robin (Luke Witte) Whitney of Weston; companion: Jane Platt; 9
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Cora, daughter Ethel Leisure, granddaughter Jennifer Morelan,
son-in-law Mike McKenzie and 2 infant sisters.
Bob was an amazing man that could make and fix anything. He was an inventor with a couple patents. Bob
worked as a millwright for Chevrolet Motor Company before serving our country in the Unites States Navy.
The ship he was stationed on carried aviation fuel in the South Pacific during World War II. After
returning, he purchased land and started farming. He farmed his land for 73 years, until the age of 97.
Bob enjoyed tinkering in the shop and taking fishing trips to Canada. He loved to travel, loved music
and was a self-taught musician who could play a number of instruments. He will be dearly missed.
Visitation for Bob will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 3-7 p.m. in Deck-Hanneman Funeral
Home, 1460 W. Wooster Street, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.
Bob’s funeral service will be held on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 10 a.m. in the Weston Church of
Christ, 13355 Center Street, Weston, Ohio 43569. Interment will immediately follow at the Weston
Cemetery.
Memorial contribution in Bob’s honor may be gifted to Bridge Hospice Care Center.
