Leo Carroll Shiets

Leo Carroll Shiets, age 86, died November 8, 2019 in Conroe, TX.
Leo was born to Louis P. and Helen (Jenkins) Shiets (Taylor) in Fremont, OH.
Leo was a self-made man, starting out his working life at the age of 12 at a neighbor’s farm. He became a
millwright and owned Bellevue Welding for many years. He was a prolific inventor and held several
patents, two of which were processes to repair truck axles on a mobile basis. He founded Axle Surgeons,
Inc. on this repair process and helped many small business owners start their own Axle Surgeons
businesses across the country.
When he wasn’t coming up with the latest and greatest new invention, he loved to fish. He was a
gregarious and funny man and his customers still ask about him to this day, even though he retired many
years ago.
He is survived by his three children, Kathleen Shiets, Michael (Alison) Shiets and Linda (Jerry)
Contreras, along with stepchildren Diane Starr, Larry Wohn, Tim Wohn, Jamie Wohn, Dan Wohn, and numerous
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Edith Martin, Joyce Freeze,
Fay Rimelspach and brother, Bob Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nola (Rood) Shiets, stepson Rick Wohn, and brother Jim
Shiets.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in
the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 W. Wooster St. Pastor Rob Spicer will officiate.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green.
Visitation will be held Monday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at the
funeral home.
