Janis Kay Johnson, 76, of Tontogany, OH, passed away October 2, 2019 at Bridge Hospice in Bowling Green,
OH. She was born December 15, 1942 in Bowling Green, OH to CD & Helene (Deweyer) Smith and she
was a 1961 graduate of Bowling Green High School.
Janis retired from General Motors. She attended Tontogany Presbyterian Church. Janis loved attending her
kids and grandkids sporting events at Otsego. She was a crafty person who enjoyed painting and
decorating. Janis was known in the community for her home and yard being decorated for every holiday.
Janis loved kids and she always kept a watchful eye as the kids made their way to school each morning.
Janis is survived by her son, Chad Johnson, daughter-in-law, Amy Johnson, grandchildren, Brandon, Logann,
Drake & Dane Johnson, great grandchildren, Blake, Sophia, Taylor, Ava, & Aliyah Johnson,
sister-in-laws, Millie Greenfield, Colleen Smith & Lounette Heckler, and many nieces, nephews
& cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin R. Johnson, son, Cory
Johnson, brothers, Larry & Jerry Smith, and sister, Joan Smith.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 7, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral
Home, 18620 Washington St. Tontogany, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at
11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Pastor Pamela Short will officiate. Burial will follow at Tontogany
Cemetery. Because of her love for Otsego sports, memorial contributions can be given to Otsego Athletic
