Helen Ida Collins

Helen Ida Collins, 92, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 9, 2019 at the CHP Inpatient
Hospice Center, Defiance, Ohio.
She was born November 17, 1926 in Leipsic, Ohio to the late Joseph and Rose (Schroeder) Haselman. On July
3, 1954 she married Robert Collins at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Leipsic, Ohio and he preceded her in
death on November 29, 2018. Together for over 64 years, they were proud to be able to travel to all 50
states and several countries.
Helen graduated in 1945 from Leipsic High School. She worked part-time at the Scarborough Pharmacy,
Deshler. She was a constant supporter to her home and her family. She was a devoted wife, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Deshler, where she served many years
on the funeral committee.
She is survived by four children, Gregory (Diane) Collins, Hicksville, Ohio; Garold “Gary” (Joan)
Collins, Deshler; Jack (Emily) Collins, Napoleon, Ohio; Colleen Zernhel, Deshler; 11 grandchildren; 18
great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard (Edna) Haselman, Leipsic.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth; son-in-law, Daniel Zernhel; sisters, Jeanette Selhorst,
Beatrice Kleman, Mary Ann Kaufman, Mildred Kohls and brothers, Tom Haselman and Ralph Haselman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church, Deshler, with Fr. Art Niewiadomski officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery,
Deshler.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Friday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, with a Rosary Service at 7
p.m.
Visitation will also be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor’s choice.
