Doris Ann Barchent

Doris Ann Barchent, 96, of Findlay, passed away at 11:09 a.m. on November 21, 2019 at the Heritage Corner
Health Care Center, Bowling Green.
She was born in Findlay on September 15, 1923 to the late Weldon L. and Hilda A.(Rangeler) Bright. On
November 14, 1942, Doris married Richard P. Barchent Sr. and he preceded her in death on October 30,
1994.
Doris is survived by her children: David A. (Karen) Barchent of Findlay, Julie A. Smith of Findlay, and
Debra D. (Mark) Manley of Bowling Green; daughter-in-law, Shirley J. Barchent of Findlay; siblings:
Charles L. (Sally) Bright of Findlay, and Janet (Edward) Kohli of Pandora; sister-in-law, Martha Bright
of Findlay; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Richard P. Barchent Jr.; and brother, Robert D. Bright.
Doris was a 1941 graduate of Findlay High School. She was a homemaker and retired from The Findlay
Courier. Doris was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school class
for over 25 years and served as the church secretary for over five years. She was a volunteer for the
Hancock Historical Society, Campfire leader, and Cub Scout leader.
Doris enjoyed arts and crafts. She was an accomplished painter. She loved gardening and had huge gardens
at her home. Doris liked to sew and taught her daughter, Julie, to sew, along with many other girls.
Doris’ family would like to thank Bridge Hospice of Findlay and Bowling Green, as well as the caring
nurses and care providers at Heritage Corner Health Care Campus, Bowling
Green for the beautiful and loving care.
A memorial service for Doris will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay.
