Bradner Legion hosts baked steak dinner
BRADNER — The Bradner American Legion will serve a baked steak dinner Sunday starting at 11:30 a.m.
The meal also will include mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, dinner roll, pie and beverage.
The cost is $8 and carryout is available by calling 419-288-3634.

Hear Polish-American concert band
TOLEDO — The Toledo Polish-American Concert Band will have a fall-winter concert at the Woodward High
School auditorium, 701 E. Central Ave., on Sunday 2 p.m.
The concert is free. It will feature marches, patriotic tunes, seasonal selections, polka and an audience
sing-a-long.
Membership in the band is open to anyone. Meetings are held every Tuesday from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Calvary

Nominate a non-profit for a free BiG Fab Lab membership
Nominations are open for a new BiG Fab Lab initiative that will allow a local non-profit full access to
space, tools and talent.

A BiG Fab Lab membership would provide meeting space for staff and volunteers, fundraising events, and
training, tools to custom laser engraved gifts for volunteer appreciation (plaques, glassware,
trinkets), equipment to make items to sell for fundraising, software to create promotional graphics,
printing equipment and press to make signs, labels and custom T-shirts.
Select members of the non-profit will be trained to work on the equipment.
The deadline for applications is Dec. 15. The winner will be announced on Dec. 27.
BiG Fab Lab is an open-access workshop — also known as a maker space — that provides a membership
community with 24/7 access to powerful tools and the knowledge to use them. The lab offers rentable
studio space for artists or others who want a place to work on their creations.

Joint the Retro LAN Party
PERRYSBURG — It’s the game that changed the video game landscape and created countless memes and memories
— StarCraft Brood War. Released in 1998, it is now available as a free download.
Adults are invited to Way Public Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave., at 6 p.m. on Tuesday for a little
nostalgia and some face-to-face real time strategy at an old-school LAN party. Way will provide the
computers, software, space marines, zealots and zerglings.
Registration is required in advance. Register online at waylibrary.info or in person at the Information
Desk. Admission and refreshments are free of charge. This program is for adults, but teen fans of the
StarCraft franchise may also attend.

Learn cookie decorating technique
PERRYSBURG — Join instructor Wendy Bach at Way Public Library for this class on the basics of a royal
icing flood technique for decorating holiday-themed cookies.
Advance registration is required for the class which meets at 6 p.m. on Thursday. A fee of $5 is payable
at the time of registration at the library’s Information Desk. Class size is limited. This is for adults
only.
Students should bring a container big enough to hold three cookies flat.

Crystal Concert at Perrysburg High School
PERRYSBURG — The Perrysburg High School Music Department will present its bi-annual Crystal Concert at 6
p.m. and 8 p.m. on Dec. 10 and Dec. 11 at 8 p.m.
The 70-minute holiday concert features each performing group in the band, choir and orchestra areas —
over 600 students total, along with several student chamber ensembles — and concludes with a grand
finale with all students performing together.
General public ticket sales will be Thursday and Dec. 9, from 6:30-8 p.m. All sales will be held in the
high school auditorium lobby. Tickets will also be sold at the door 30 minutes prior to each concert.
Senior Stingers may only be redeemed in person during ticket sale hours on Thursday and Dec. 9. Adult
tickets are $10 and student/senior citizen tickets are $7. Tickets may also be purchased online starting
Dec. 3 at 9 p.m.
Advance-seating tickets will go on sale on Monday and Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. for patrons of the music
program.
‘Mystery of the Christmas Star’ returns to Lourdes
SYLVANIA — The Mystery of the Christmas Star, a holiday tradition, returns to the Appold Planetarium.
The Star of Bethlehem is part of every telling of the Christmas story. What was this Star and what was so
remarkable that the wise men undertook the long journey across the desert from Babylon to Bethlehem?
What sign did they see that made them expect the birth of a king?
Journey back 2000 years to Bethlehem and discover a scientific explanation for the star the wise men
followed to find the baby Jesus. The Appold Planetarium’s holiday show The Mystery of the Christmas Star
investigates possible dates for the birth of Christ and looks at recorded sightings of significant
astronomical events during the time frame. This modern telling of the Christmas story is sure to charm
and captivate audiences of all ages.
Admission prices are $5 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. The family-friendly shows are
offered at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 6, 7, 14, 20 and 21.

Santa Shop open in Pemberville
PEMBERVILLE — The 2nd annual Santa Shop will be open Dec. 7 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the old Pemberville
Elementary, 120 College Ave.
All items will cost $10 of less. There will be a free wrapping station and shopping helpers for children.
Children and adults are welcome to shop.
Bring a non-perishable item and for every item donated, receive a ticket to enter to win a price.
Pictures with Santa will be available from 2-4 p.m. for $5.
Holiday bazaar, Carruth signing in Waterville
WATERVILLE – The Waterville Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Holiday Bazaar at StoryPoint Senior
Living, 1470 Pray Blvd., Dec. 7 from noon-4 p.m.
The bazaar includes local crafters and artists. See Santa and his elf from noon-3 p.m.
This is a family friendly event with free admission and free parking. Stay for a tour of StoryPoint
before or after shopping.
Start the day with Breakfast with Santa, sponsored by the Anthony Wayne High School Softball Program, at
Shawn’s Irish Tavern, 105 S. Third St., beginning at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Santa arrives at 8:30 a.m.
Breakfast consists of pancakes, eggs and sausage. Donate cold weather gear or a new toy at Shawn’s.
Garden Smiles’ Artist and owner George Carruth will be autographing purchases of his artwork on Dec. 7,
10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Dec. 8, noon-5 p.m. Visit Garden Smiles at 122 Mechanic St. or bring in an old piece
and have Carruth add his signature to it.
CPR, AED class offered at Way
PERRYSBURG — Registration is now open for a CPR and AED class to be held at Way Public Library, 101 E.
Indiana Ave., on Dec. 9 from 6-9 p.m. The class will be conducted by the Perrysburg Fire Division.
Participants will receive instruction in adult, child, and infant CPR with breaths; adult and child AED
use; and relief of choking in an adult, child, or infant. The cost for the class is $5. Advance
registration is necessary.
The primary audience for this class is anyone with limited or no medical training who wants to learn CPR.

For an additional cost of $25, upon successful completion of class, students can register for a CPR AED
course completion card for job, regulatory, or other requirements. The completion card is valid for 2
years.

RUDOLPH — Stop by the Liberty Township Civic Center, 10109 Rudolph Road, and do some shopping with local
vendors and crafters on Dec. 9 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Fundraiser blends county home history with birthday festivities
Celebrate the 150th anniversary of the County Home at the Birthday Gala Fundraiser, at the Wood County
Historical Center & Museum, 13660 County Home Road on Dec. 14 from 6-9 p.m.
Come together at this annual event to enjoy the celebration of the 1869 opening of the County Home with
hors d’oeuvers provided by Penta Culinary Arts Program, cocktails and mocktails from around Ohio and
root beer floats. Enjoy a candy and popcorn bar and live entertainment by Timmy C & the Game
Changers. Guests will also be able to tour the museum’s award-winning exhibit For Comfort &
Convenience: Public Charity in Ohio by Way of the Poor Farm.
There will also be a silent auction featuring a variety of themed gift baskets with local experiences
from artists, merchants and restaurants. Some of the items include: a Zamboni ride and tickets to the
Toledo Walleye, art package from Toledo Museum of Art and Sue Shank Cookies. There will also be a 50-50
raffle.
Gala tickets are $55/person through the end of November and $60/person starting Sunday. Walk-ins welcome

Eat all the pancakes you can
WOODVILLE — A pancake breakfast will be held at the Woodville Township Fire Department on Dec. 8 from
7:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
The breakfast will include scrambled eggs, chunky applesauce, homemade pork sausage, coffee or milk, and
all-you-can-eat pancakes.
The cost is $7.50 for adults, $6.50 for children age 12 and younger, and $7 for seniors. Carryouts will
be available.
Free blood pressure checks will be provided.
Equestrian center open to visitors
LUCKEY — Serenity Farm Equestrian Center is hosting a Christmas Open House on Dec. 14 from 1-3 p.m. This
event will include pictures with Santa as well as family friendly activities.
The center is located at 21870 Lemoyne Road.
Community meal held in Perrysburg
PERRYSBURG – A community holiday meal will be held Dec. 18 from 6-8 p.m. at the Quality Inn banquet hall,
10621 Fremont Pike.
This is a potluck-syle, free community meal. All are invited and welcome.
It will be hosted by Dustin Decker and other volunteers.
