Summertime & the listening is easy

What’s the good old summertime, without a song?
Music series are gearing up around the area offering up a variety of music from marches to bluegrass,
with the strains of folk, rock, gospel, classical and just about anything else that may tweak your ear.

And for free. Most suggest bringing a blanket or chair.
Bowling Green
Concerts in the Park
Bowling Green’s Concert in the Parks series begins Sunday with the Bowling Green Area Community Band
playing its usual mix of patriotic tunes, marches, Broadway and pop melodies. The band also features its
BiG Band.
Concerts are all at 7 p.m. on the Needle Hall Stage in City Park.

Perrysburg
Farmers Market
In Perrysburg, the concerts are in conjunction with the farmers market and begin June 11 with bluegrass
and Fossil Creek  will perform.
The band features four-time Ohio fiddle champion Krista Solars with Jan Hudson, banjo, Tom Galbraith,
mandolin (he made himself), Jerry Spitler, bass, and Dave Borkowski, guitar.
Concerts are Thursdays at 7 p.m. on the Commodore Schoolyard lawn, 140 E. Indiana Avenue on the corner of
Louisiana and Indiana Ave in downtown Perrysburg.  
Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair.  In the event of inclement weather the concert
will move indoors to the Juliet Beck Auditorium in Commodore Building, 140 E. Indiana Ave.

Wednesday at Woodland
Also in Perrysburg, the Wednesday at Woodland lunchtime concert series gets started with one-man band
Johnny Rodriguez. He juggles guitar, singing, harmonica, and percussion.
Concerts are Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m. in the shelter area in Woodland Park, 201 E. Boundary.

Grand Rapids
Rhythm on the River
In Grand Rapids, the Rhythm on the River series takes place Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Wright Pavilion on
the towpath along the Maumee River. In the event of inclement weather, events are moved to the old Fire
Station.

Music in the Park concerts in Lake Township’s Friendship Park begin June 19.
The concerts are Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Verandah Concerts
Further afield, the Hayes Presidential Center in Fremont presents its summertime Verandah Concerts on the
porch of the home.
Concerts are Wednesdays starting with an ice cream social at 6:45 p.m. followed by an hour of music
starting at 7 p.m.
If there are thunderstorms on concert night, the event will be canceled. Updates will be available at
