Fiber artists display work in fibers577

PERRYSBURG — The 577 Foundation, 577 E. Front St.,  will present fiber577, a two-day art exhibit
showcasing fine art from a wide variety of fiber artists Saturday from 10 a.m.  to 5 p.m. and Sunday
from noon to 5 p.m.
Fiber577 will feature more than 75 pieces of juried art. The exhibit  highlights innovative uses of fiber
media including art quilts, felting, needle arts, experimental fiber, textile, collage and weaving. Some
pieces will be available for purchase during the event.
This year’s judge fiber artist Brooks Stevens  will  select the recipients of the Best in Show award, as
well as first, second and third place prizes.
Show attendees will vote  for the People’s Choice  winner.
Cindy Steiler, featured solo artist, was selected from last year’s show. She will have a small solo
exhibit within this year’s fiber577. Steiler is a Gainesville, Florida artist who has had her work shown
in the United States and abroad. She leads workshops all around the world. Her solo exhibit will feature
work from her most recent collections, including the “Forgotten” series and her popular dioramas series.

Visitors will be treated to live music, a fiber art scavenger hunt throughout the grounds and an animal
exhibit.
A special pottery fundraiser to benefit The 577 Foundation will also be held. The pottery featured in the
fundraiser is all hand made by the students of 577 and their instructors and will be both functional and
decorative works.
Demonstrations and hands-on art experiences range from a Pop Up Art Studio to a feltLOOM demonstration, a
mixed media demonstration using recycled materials, needle felting and much more.
The event is free.
At the conclusion of fiber577, many of the artists will have their work featured in a show at Angelwood
Gallery in Grand Rapids. The exhibit will run from June 16 through July 19.
