Local photographer contributes to museum’s Instagram exhibit
Eric Ward, a Perrysburg resident and fourth grade teacher at Luckey Elementary, has photos on exhibit in
the Mobile Photo Now exhibit at the Columbus Museum of Art.
Ward’s image of five hammocks in a row are among the 320 Instagram photos from 240 contributors on
display.
Ward, who has 232,000 followers on the social media site Instagram goes by the handle @littlecoal.
The show continues through March 22.
Manhattan Transfer performs Valentine’s show in Toledo
TOLEDO – The Manhattan Transfer will perform a Valentine’s Day concert with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra
Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd.
The jazz vocal quartet is approaching the 40th anniversary of the release its first recording which 
spawned the hit "Operator.
Trist Curless, a long-time substitute for the group as well as producer and arranger, has recently joined
as a permanent member following the death of founding member Tim Hauser. Curless joins Janis Siegel,
Alan Paul and Cheryl Bentyne.

PBS documentary on TB to be screened in Perrysburg
PERRYSBURG – "American Experience: The Forgotten Plague" will be shown Feb. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at
Way Public Library in conjunction with WGTE.
The documentary examines the deadly story of tuberculosis in America and the hunt for a cure.
Tuberculosis is the deadliest killer in human history, responsible for one in four deaths for almost two
centuries. While it shaped medical pursuits, social habits, economic development and public policy, TB
and its impact are poorly understood.
Grammy-winning jazz pianist Broadbent to perform at UT
TOLEDO – Two-time Grammy-winning jazz pianist, Alan Broadbent will perform the Art Tatum Memorial Jazz
Scholarship Concert, Tuesday, at 7 p.m. in the University of Toledo’s Center for Performing Arts Recital
Hall at W. Towerview Blvd. and W. Rocket Drive.
Broadbent will also present a master class at 2 p.m.  the same day.
Broadbent is regarded by the L.A. Times as "one of the greatest living jazz pianists." He was
pianist and arranger for Woody Herman’s band and was studio pianist for Nelson Riddle, David Rose and
Johnny Mandel. He also toured as Natalie Cole’s pianist and won a Grammy for his orchestral arrangement
of the hit she performed with her father, "When I Fall in Love." Broadbent has toured widely
in the UK, Europe and the US, and has also arranged music for Paul McCartney and Glenn Frey.
His program will include some originals, as well as jazz standards and songs from the Great American
Songbook.
Tickets to the concert are $10 and $5 for students and seniors (60 and over). Tickets are available at

Writers support group meets Feb. 19 at Way in Perrysburg
PERRYSBURG – No Mic Night, the monthly author support group co-sponsored by Way Public Library and PRIZM
Creative Community, will be held Feb. 19 from 7-9 p.m. at the library, 101 E. Indiana Ave.
This month’s session will be directed by local authors Tom Barden and Bill McMillen.   
The sessions offer support and critiques from peers and professionals.
