BGSU students’ atrium concert has global reach

International students from three continents from Bowling Green State University’s College
of Musical Arts will perform Sunday at 2 p.m. in the atrium of the Wood County Public Library in
downtown Bowling Green.The library has hosted performances by international students regularly since the
Steinway grand piano was installed in the atrium 10 years ago.Myra Merritt, voice professor who helped
organize the event said: "The purpose of this concert is to introduce the Bowling Green public to
some of the wonderfully talented international students enrolled in the music school at BGSU."The
students performing are: Chik Chi Him, from Hong Kong, saxophone; Dimitra Kokkinopoulou from Greece,
piano; Xueli Liu, from China, piano; Dmitri Molkov, from Russia, piano; Jia Mao, from China, soprano;
Jie Song, from China, piano; Ricardo Jose Mota Caudillo, from Mexico, tenor; and Tao Tong, from China,
tenor.The students will be performing, solo and in duets, both classical works and works characteristic
of their homelands.Those include three traditional Chinese folk songs performed by Mao and Song, and
selections from "Eight dances from the Greek Islands" performed by Kokkinopoulou.The
performance is free.
