7:30 p.m. in the Gish Film Theater. In this cult classic film noir by director Edgar Ulmer, a nightclub
pianist hitchhikes to Hollywood when his travelling companion mysteriously dies, and the pianist ends up
taking the dead man’s identity.WEDNESDAYCharles Saenz on the trumpet will perform a faculty recital at 8
p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall in the Moore Musical Arts Center.THURSDAYThe Creative Writing Program hosts
Bonnie Jo Campbell as part of its Visiting Writer Series. Campbell is from a small town in Michigan and has
written award-winning short stories and novels including "Once Upon a River." She reads from her
work at 7:30 p.m. in Prout Chapel.The International Film Series will screen "Harakiri," a 1962
Masaki Kobayashi film that follows an unemployed samurai, at 7:30 p.m. in Gish Film Theater of Hanna Hall.
The samurai visits the house of Lord Iyi and wants to be allowed to commit ritual suicide on his property.
The film was the winner of the Cannes Film Festival’s Special Jury Prize.THURSDAY-SUNDAYThe Department of
Theatre and Film presents "Clybourne Park," a Pulitzer Prize-winning and Tony Award-winning play
inspired by "A Raisin in the Sun" will be on stage in the Donnell Theatre of the Wolfe Center for
the Arts with 8 p.m. shows, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. matinees Saturday and Sunday. The
satiric comedy uses real estate to exemplify the rifts created by white flight and gentrification. Tickets

showcase their talent in the Newcomers Show "Fresh Meet" with performances Friday and Saturday at
8 p.m. with a matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bryan Recital Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center. They will
sing songs that center on relationships.The exhibit "As They Like It," showcasing Chicago artists’
interpretations of Shakespeare opens in the Willard Wankelman Gallery of the Fine Arts Center. Artists Anne
Farley Gaines, Maureen Warren and Robert Kameczura curate the exhibition. Continues through Nov. 22. Gallery
hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays, 6 to 9 p.m. and Sundays, 1 to 4 p.m.OCT.
28The College of Musical Arts welcomes Bob Bernhardt as guest artist in residence for the 2013 Dorothy E.
and Duwayne H. Hansen Series. Bernhardt’s experience includes 31 years as a music director, 34 years as a
conductor and 33 years in the opera pit. He is currently the Principal Pops Conductor with the Chattanooga
Symphony and Opera. This year also marked his 20th year with the Boston Pops. He will be on the BGSU campus
through Nov. 1.ARTalks present Vivian Ladd’s "Learning to Look" at 5 p.m. in 204 Fine Arts Center.
A museum art educator for more than 25 years, Ladd currently works at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the
Currier Museum of Art and the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College.The Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble performs
in OctubaFest, starting at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall.OCT. 29The 1952 film "Kansas City
Confidential" will be shown as part of Tuesdays at the Gish. This landmark crime movie untangles a web
of corruption that ensues after armored truck driver Joe Rolfe is wrongfully accused of collaborating with
the robbers, and was the inspiration for such modern classics as "Reservoir Dogs" and "L.A.
Confidential." The film starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Gish Film Theater of Hanna Hall.The Clarinet
Ensemble directed by Kevin Schempf, performs at 8 p.m. in the Moore Musical Arts Center.AT THE GALLERIESNew
Art and Sound exhibition features multimedia works of Terry Adkins, George Lewis and Pamela Z in the Dorothy
Uber Bryan Gallery of the Fine Arts Center. The exhibit continues through Nov. 17. Gallery hours are Tuesday
