UT hosts Art on the MallTOLEDO – Art on the Mall will be presented Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
in the University of Toledo’s Centennial Mall.More than 100 artists specializing in acrylic, glass, jewelry,
mixed media, oil, pen and ink, photography, pottery, textiles/fibers/basketry, watercolors and wood will
display and sell their works. Many of the artists are alumni, former or current students, faculty or staff,
or parents of UT students.This year’s festival also will feature food vendors, children’s activities, live
pottery demonstrations, a beer garden and musical entertainment and a young artist area in the center of
Centennial Mall.Musicians from The Toledo School for the Arts will perform throughout the day in the center
of Centennial Mall. From 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Scheduled ensembles are: The Urban Jazz Collective with Christy
Lanning, 10 a.m. to noon; Afro-Caribbean Dance and Drum, noon to 2 p.m.; and Glass City Steel, 2 to 5 p.m.
will finish the day.Roots music featured in Rhythm on the RiverGRAND RAPIDS – Matthew Keeler and Blues
Reveler will perform a Rhythm on the River Arts Series concert Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Wright Pavilion on
the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street. The series is sponsored by
the Grand Rapids Historical Society.Matt Keeler started playing a mixture of Pre-WW II blues and spirituals
in the mid-1990’s, but has since broadened his repertoire to include other styles, such as ragtime, Irish
traditional music, hokum, early American popular music, and Appalachian fiddle tunes. The Ohio-based band,
Blues Reveler, is his homage to American Roots music. Many iconic instruments are featured: washtub bass,
bones, hurdy gurdy, washboard, and miscellaneous debris.Silverbax at DegageMAUMEE – The Silverbax will
perform jazz standards Friday from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Degage Jazz Cafe, 301 River Road.The band
features Bowling Green musicians Michael Peslikis, piano, and Bob Manley, saxophones and flute, with Tom
Ritter, bass, and Jim Seiblod, drums.PRIZM program offers writers publishing adviceAs part of its
Inspiration Staycation Summer Program for area residents, the PRIZM Creative Community is sponsoring a
"Publishing Creative Writing: Getting in the Game" with Wendell Mayo, Aug. 9 from 2:30 to 4:30
p.m. at Clara J’s Tea Room, 219 W. Wayne St. in Maumee.The workshop will focus on helping participants
publish fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction.On the creative writing faculty at Bowling Green State
University, Mayo has published both fiction and non-fiction.Cost is $10 for PRIZM members, or $15 for

Overton II will perform a Jazz on the Maumee concert July 31 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Aqua Lounge at
the Grand Plaza Hotel, 444 N Summit St.Cover charge is $15, $10 for members of the Art Tatum Jazz Society
and $5 for students.
