‘Indian Enough’ show opens in Perrysburg

PERRYSBURG – "Matika Wilbur: Indian Enough," an exhibit of photographs, is now on
display at River House Arts, 115 W. Front St.The Seattle-based artist will talk about her work at the
gallery on May 16 at 7 p.m. The exhibit continues through June 10.The show features selections from three of
Wilbur’s essays including We Are One People- character study portraits of Coast Salish Elders; iHuman –
images of Swinomish tribal members interwoven with sacred cedar bark; and We Emerge- a photographic
meditation on the historical and prevailing stereotypes of Native Peoples in American popular culture.Indian
Enough is the first in a series of exhibitions River House Arts is hosting in recognition of the 200th
Anniversary of the battles that occurred in this region during the War of 1812. These military events
changed U.S. policy towards indigenous peoples of North America, and ended of any promise for a sovereign
