Chapel."Da hong deng long gao gao gua" ("Raise the Red Lantern"), a 1991 film by Chinese
director Zhang Yimou, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. in Gish Theater . When her father dies, a young woman must
give up her bright future to become the fourth wife of a wealthy landowner. The powerful lord shines a red
lantern in front of the house of the wife he chooses to sleep with that night, and the women compete with
one another to get that light outside their home.Guest Artist ADJ-ective New Music will perform at 8 p.m. in
Bryan Recital Hall. The group, composed of seven bassoonists, introduces contemporary music to new audiences
through private instruction or event presentations.FRIDAY & SUNDAYBGSU’s Opera Theater presents
"The Merry Widow" by Franz Lehar Friday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Donnell Theatre of

Bryan and Willard Wankelman galleries of the Fine Arts Center. The exhibit will officially open Sunday and
will continue through April 10. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 6 to 9 p.m.
