together for concertTIFFIN – Violinist Ioana Galu will present an Ioana and Friends concert Jan. 11 at 7
p.m. in Heidelberg University’s Ohl Concert Hall.The concert brings together colleagues and former students,
all of whom have performed with her before, but never on the same program.Scheduled to perform with Galu are
Bowling Green State University faculty members Julie Buzzelli, harp, Kevin Bylsma, piano, and Penny Kruse,
violin, and Heidelberg faculty members Barbara Specht, clarinet, and Steve Kruse, viola. Also performing
will be Iuliana Cotirlea, a former student of Ioana’s in Romania, and the Eastern String Quartet of Galu,
Cotirlea, Kyla Witt and Jason Heidelberg. Rounding out the cast will be the Heidelberg Jazz Combo.Galu is a
violin instructor at Heidelberg and BGSU. She received her master’s and doctoral degrees from BGSU.Among the
works to be performed will be two by contemporary composers Atar Arad and Paolo Marques .BGSU student jazz
pianist plays Jazz on Maumee gigTOLEDO – Josh Silver &Company will perform a Jazz on the Maumee
concert Jan. 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Aqua Lounge at the Grand Plaza Hotel, 444 N Summit St.The show
features Silver on piano with Steve Knurek on bass and Alvin Dawson on drums. All are students at Bowling
Green State University.Cover is $15, $10 for members of the Art Tatum Jazz Heritage Society Jazz Members and
$5 for students.Russian National Ballet presenting ‘Swan Lake"TOLEDO – Russian National Ballet Theatre
will present the classic ballet "Swan Lake" Thursday, Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Valentine
Theatre, 410 Adams St.With music by Tchaikovsky, the ballet tells the fairy tale of a beautiful princess, a
passionate prince and an evil spell. The acclaimed film "Black Swan" used "Swan Lake" as
