Toledo Museum bustling this week

TOLEDO – The Toledo Museum of Art is offering its annual Great Art Escape today through Sunday.
One highlight this year will be Swing Time on the Peristyle Stage Thursday. At 11 a.m., the film
"Swing Time" starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Roger will be shown. A photograph of the stars
is on exhibit in "Made in Hollywood: Photographs from the John Kobal Foundation" in the
museum.
After the screening, from 2 to 3 p.m. participants can see a live demonstration and take part in
instruction by award-winning swing dancer Paulette Brockington. There will be a sign up sheet at the
Libbey Court Information Desk the day of the program.
Each day of The Great Art Escape offers different programming related to the museum’s collection of art.

There will be storytelling, performances in the Great Gallery and Peristyle as well as mini concerts on
the Dutch organ in Gallery 24 and Castle piano in Gallery 1.
A gallery hunt throughout the museum is offered daily. Activity sheets are available at Information Desk
or Libbey Court.
Also the Family Activity Center will offer a variety of projects.
Admission to the museum and all of the activities is free. Parking is $5. Visitors can also view the
"Manet: Portraying Life" and "Made in Hollywood" exhibitions. Tickets per exhibition
for nonmembers are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and students or a $12 combination ticket is also
available. Admission is free for members.
The Manet exhibit is open through Jan. 1. The Main Museum will be open on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s
Day from noon to 8 p.m. The Glass Pavilion will be closed.
Also part of the week’s activities, featured glass artist Danny White will be at the Glass Pavilion for
demonstrations along with a presentation about his work and how he strives to bridge the gap between
painting and glass.
Storytelling sessions will highlight books that relate to works of art in the museum’s collection.
