Owens faculty exhibits art
An exhibit of art by Owens Community College faculty opens Friday with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. in
the Walter E. Terhune Art Gallery in Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, off Oregon Road in
Perrysburg Township.
The show which continues through Dec. 14 features more 60 works of art including painting, ceramics,
photography and mixed media.
Those exhibiting include: Mania Dajnak and Sally Welch, both of Perrysburg; Gary Wittenmyer, Krista
Richey and Richardo Quinonez, all of Bowling Green of Bowling Green; Larry Linkous, Rossford; and Nancy
Light and John Walz, both of Waterville.
Abby Paskvan honored
Abby Paskvan has been honored by the Artist Music Guild as one of the organizations new artists.
More than 4,800 entries were reviewed for the Heritage awards.
Abby states "It was a great experience and honor to be selected by the Artist Music Guild for this
award". Abby attended the awards ceremony on Nov. 10 in Charlotte, N.C.
Sweet Adelines to sing
MAUMEE – The Pride of Toledo Sweet Adelines Chorus will present its annual show "Journey to
Harmony" at the Maumee High School on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The chorus will be joined by guest performers the Voices of Harmony Men’s Barbershop Chorus from Bowling
Green.

BGSU Jazz Singers perform Sunday at Terra
FREMONT – The BGSU Jazz Singers will perform a free Music on Sunday concert Sunday at 4 p.m. in Terra
State Community College’s Recital Hall in Building D.
The BGSU Jazz Singers, directed by Chris Buzzelli, includes up to 16 vocalists backed by a jazz combo.
The singers perform the music of groups such as Manhattan Transfer, Singers Unlimited and New York
Voices, as well as arrangements written especially for them.
They have performed at the Jazz Education Network National Conference, the Tri-C Vocal Jazz Festival, the
Gold Company Vocal Jazz Festival and the Ohio Music Educator’s Conference.

Pianist Robert Ballinger plays UT faculty recital
TOLEDO – The University of Toledo Department of Music will present pianist Robert Ballinger in a Faculty
Artist Recital on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the UT Center for Performing Arts.
The program includes J.S. Bach’s "Toccata in C minor," "Five Dances" from Prokofiev’s
"Romeo and Juliet" and the "Grand Sonata No.1 in F-sharp minor" by Robert Schumann.

Blues society presents Castro & Painkillers
TOLEDO – Tommy Castro & The Painkillers will celebrate the release of their new 45 rpm single,
"Greedy / That’s All I Got" with a show Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Evolution, 519 North Reynolds
Road.
Rhythm and blues standout Castro has stripped down his ensemble to a quartet with longtime bassist Randy
McDonald and new members Byron Cage on drums and James Pace on keyboards,
Tickets for the show, presented by the Black Swamp Blues Society, are $18 and $16 for Black Swamp Blues
