New community big band debuts at Veterans Day show
The new big band associated with the Bowling Green Area Community Band will make its debut during the
band’s Veterans Day concert Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Bowling Green Performing Arts Center.
The concert band, under the baton of Thom Headley, will perform a variety of American and patriotic music
including a "Leroy Anderson Portrait," "Salute to Bob Hope," "National Emblem
March" and "Armed Forces- Pride of America." Bagpipes will be on hand to perform
"Amazing Grace."
The big band, under the direction of Bill Lake, will perform two numbers.
Doors open for the free concert at 3:30 p.m.
Glass, ceramics on display
in apARTment event in BG
An apARTment show featuring glass and ceramics will be held Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. at 220 E. Court St.
Apt. C
The host is Sarah Smith. Displaying their works will be Mitch Boening, ceramics, and Karlye Golub, glass.

Mauk drawings on display
TOLEDO – "Colorful Drawings," an exhibit of worm by Daniel Mauk, is now on display at The Art
Supply Depot, 29 S. Saint Clair St.
An opening reception will be held Nov. 16 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the gallery.
The show continues through Dec. 28.
Children’s choir to sing
TOLEDO – The Children’s Choir of Northwest Ohio will perform Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Main Branch of
the Toledo Public Library.
Our Jubilate Choir and Bel Canto Choir are made up of children in grades 3-up from throughout Northwest
Ohio.
Gallery hosting celebration of Edith Franklin’s art, life
TOLEDO – A celebration of the life and work of the late artist Edith Franklin will be held Sunday from
1-4 p.m. at the Secor Gallery, 425 Jefferson Ave.
At Franklin’s request all items remaining from her personal collection will be sold to benefit the Youth
Arts Fund that she established near the end of her life.
Known as La Grand Dame of the Arts in Toledo, she participated in the now legendary 1962 glass workshops
at the Toledo Museum of Art that launched the studio glass arts movement, co-founded the Toledo Potter’s
Guild and was one of the earliest board members at The Arts Commission.

Toledo Rep staging comedy ‘I Hate Hamlet’
TOLEDO – The Toledo Rep will present Paul Rudnick’s comedy "I Hate Hamlet" is scheduled to play
the Rep’s Tenth Street Stage starting Friday and continuing with weekend shows through Nov. 18.
Directed by Barbara Barkan, the comedy features John DuVall, Samanthia Rousos, Marissa Rex, Pat Strobl,
Nick Morgan, and Larry Farley.

Cathedral presents organist
TOLEDO – Organists Douglas Bruce will perform on the 1931 E.M. Skinner organ at Rosary Cathedral, 2535
Collingwood Blvd., on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Works to be featured are Prelude and Fugue in G major by J.S. Bach, "Prelude and Fugue on the name
B.A.C.H." by Franz Liszt and the Sonata in D minor by Alexandre Guilmant.
Bead shop plans holiday workshops
Coyote Beads is hosting a series of one- day glass projects during the holiday season.
Scheduled are: slide jewelry, Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. $30 for two necklaces; mosaic window, Monday 6 to
8 p.m., $25; tiny mosaic ornament, Nov. 16 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Nov. 18, from 1 to 5 p.m., $15; and
holiday ornaments combining stain glass and beads, Nov. 19 and Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. $30.
Firenation host BYOB
HOLLAND – The Firenation Glass Studio and Gallery will be holding BYOB – blow your own bulb – sessions
through the holiday season.
The sessions start this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and continue on Nov. 24 and Dec. 1, 8, 15 and 22,
all at the same time.
